Dr Vishwanath Bite is Associate Professor of English at Government Vidarbha Institute of Science and Humanities, Amravati. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate students of English since 2006, after an M.A. (2006) and a PhD (2009) at Shivaji University, Kolhapur, where his doctoral research examined history in Indian drama in English. His fields are Indian Writing in English, Indian English drama, postcolonial literature and linguistics. Before Amravati he taught at government colleges in Mumbai and Kolhapur; at Rajaram College, Kolhapur, he was a recognised postgraduate teacher and PhD supervisor, coordinated the Competitive Exam Guidance Cell and served as an Associate NCC Officer.
In 2010 he founded The Criterion: An International Journal in English, and in 2012 Galaxy: International Multidisciplinary Research Journal. He leads both as Founder & Editor-in-Chief. Both are open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed journals published by RCELL, the Research Centre for English Language and Literature, where he is Academic Adviser; RCELL registers their Crossref DOIs. For The Criterion he has interviewed writers including Mahesh Dattani, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Anita Nair and K. Satchidanandan. He has written or edited twelve books, from Mahesh Dattani: His Stagecraft in Indian Theatre to the four NEP Students' Guides and Creative Writing: Unlocking Your Voice.
He builds the tools he wishes his students had. VocabPro, the free, offline vocabulary app he conceived and developed, began with a question from a student in an early-morning competitive-examination class at Rajaram College: how do you actually prepare for vocabulary? It went live on Google Play in 2026, published by Literary Rides. GrammarPro, a beta app that explains grammar in Marathi or English and shows why every wrong option is wrong, has its questions checked by an academic team he leads. He is Co-Founder and Academic Author of Literary Rides, RCELL's English Studies learning brand founded by Dr Madhuri Bite, and hosts its podcast and YouTube channel; his own channel, Teaching with Technology, helps teachers work with digital tools. He is a co-proprietor of a registered design for a language learning device (Design No. 466916-001).
Off campus he is a rider and photographer. A Royal Enfield Classic Signals 350 in Stormrider Sand carried him through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and the forts of Maharashtra and gave Literary Rides its name; a Himalayan 450 now opens the next chapter. His camera follows the road, from heritage architecture to the endangered Forest Owlet of Melghat, and his personal YouTube channel is where those journeys are beginning to be told.
